GUNS: The Spencer Book (Rook and Ronin Spinoff) by J.A. Huss

From the moment Spencer opened his mouth in the Rook & Ronin series I was like. "Gimme NOW!!" From his dirty mouth to his cocky and arrogant attitude I just yearned for this bad boy!  My favorite parts of this book were the "past" when Ron and Spence really fell in love. I adored seeing how they were in the beginning and I'll probably never think of an atrium  in the same way again.     But we had to go to the present to head towards my hopeful HEA. A pretty emotional ride begins where Veronica was really treated like crap a lot of the time and I kinda prepared myself being that we knew a lot of why he treated her like that as the reader because of the previous books. It didn't ease the blow as much as I'd have liked though. I had some moments in this book that if Spencer had been in reaching distance...this might have happened.  But then.... yea there is a butt..(no not his awesome butt)  Spencer would go and have this totally sappy romantic thought  or say this totally sweet and endearing thing to Ronnie (in the past or the present)  and I'd just swoon. I am glad J. A. gave us the past in the middle of the present to ease a little of the misery.   His smile is small and crooked. Almost sad as he reaches over and laces his fingers in mine. “We like to hold hands too, don’t we?”         Then instantly I would be screaming #Spencer-IS-My-1-&-Only All over again!! He had me feeling a tad psychitzo.     Ronnie was so strong to have put up with all that was dished out to her. The love these two shared was epic and she couldn't fight it even when she wanted to run for the hills. The fact was Spencer and Ronnie FIT in a crazy world and I think in the back of her mind she knew his true heart. When this climactic and passionate story came together I was literally having to remind myself to breathe! I was on the edge, gripping my Kindle and begging for this amazing couple to find their way back to each other.    J. A. Huss has captivated me through 7 freaking books!! These characters have become so special to me. I can't wait to see what the future holds.

BOMB: A Day in the Life of Spencer Shrike (Rook and Ronin Spinoff) by J.A. Huss

I've loved Spencer Shrike since he was introduced in the Rook and Ronin series. I have always had a soft spot for tall hot tattoed dirty mouth men. (Who doesn't)..so yea I was really excited when this book came out. I had to hold off though because I knew and I was correct that when it ended I'd be foaming at the mouth for the next book. Spencer and Veronica ARE JUST SIMPLY Like Sizzling, Scorching, Exploding and Incineration HOT It's like my Kindle was vibrating every time they were on the page together. Ok, this is gonna probably be one of those rambling reviews that make no sense because I am so totally blown away by the sheer raw and sexy beauty of this story and all that is


FREAKING FORD!!!

Oh crap Ford is like the epitome of what I needed in a book leading man right now. So dark and brooding and so much of an arrogant ass that you go from wanting to slap his face one second to humping his leg the next. He's dominant yet broken and has the whole "don't touch me vibe" yet buried is this soul that wants love so badly he runs from it by loving women he can't have. This is his defense mechanism, this is how he protects his heart. The whole love for Rook was real but it wasn't a true love like Ronin and Rook shared , it was protective love...not just for Rook but for Ford's fearful heart. He knew she was hands off and so she was a "safe" choice for him to love. Basically Ford wanted to belong but he was afraid of the risk.

 "I’d like to be half of something."

His habit of keeping pets, was also his big shield yet he deeply wanted someone he could not only be freaky with but also respect and love.  

"I admit, I’m not wholly dissatisfied with the naughty ones. But just once, just fucking once, I’d like the Sandy instead of the Rizzo. Holy fuck. I just used a Grease Rookism to illustrate my point."

Then comes Ashleigh, how can I even explain how much I loved this character. She was strong yet decimated, funny yet tormented and sexy, silly and soulful and so much more. Ford couldn't walk way from her and Kate even if he had tried. These two were like magnets and the pull was so powerful.

 Watching him fall in love with not only Ashleigh but this sweet angel Kate warmed my sappy heart like nothing else. I cried so hard in several parts of this book but I'll let the reader find out why because even though I basically figured it out from the beginning and you will too , I think that you have to experience the whole truckload of emotions.
Ford's possessive feelings over both of these precious girls "his girls" just was so amazing. He never felt jealous over a woman before like he did Ashleigh. I loved how he got so mad when the thought of her nursing in public..so freaking hot when an arrogant man is brought to his knees.
One of my favorite lines in this whole book.

I want it all or I want nothing.

Ford grows so much in this book and so does Ashleigh and the sizzling scenes between these two only added to the feelings and depth of this story. He is so much into the control aspect of sex and Ashleigh is not submissive but she submits to him in the manner they both need because truly Ford would never be able to love a true submissive woman. He just wants that edge in the bedroom. The thing is that Ashleigh finds some freedom in letting go of things just for a while and only feeling..not thinking. 

 “Ashleigh, I’m not trying to take away your freedom, I’m trying to take away your pain.”

 The banter between these two gets pretty hot, and the spankings are punishments had me squirming with glee.

 

 Although there were a lot of light moments in this book, the underlying emotional story was tragic and heart breaking. Ashleigh bared her soul to Ford though and when it came down to it Ford became what he was always mean to be, a man who could love and be loved.
Ashleigh get's her "Grand gesture" and I sigh with happiness. 

I could go on and on but really, you have to read this book. That is just the truth.

BLEW ME AWAY!!!!!

77 pages of these emotions running through my head..
I am so totally just floored I don't know where to begin.
But here is the gist of it.

So that is basically everything I felt in 77 pages.
Raw, dirty, filthy and funny and sad..all enough to make me want to lock Ford up and keep him all for me..but alas..I need to talk to somebody about this freaking man..so read this book!!!

10 Freaking Stars if ever a book deserved them!

So I have been almost a little confused reading Tragic, Manic and Panic (Rook and Ronin series)
I have never read a book that had this type of plot. It's the most unique story I've ever read. Yes there is some sex and a lot of sexual situations. There is just something so different about it that I was like not able to put it down. I only rated books 1 and 2 a 4 because of all the unanswered questions in my head that made me not sure if I was gonna love it by the time it's over.
Plot:
Rook (tragic broken battered girl) alone and homeless gets an opportunity to take a modeling job. It's erotic modeling
she meets
Ronin(beautiful sexy charismatic male model and other jobs) falls for Rook right away.

“I’ll be here waiting. I will wait forever. If that’s what it takes. I’ll wait for you until the end of time.” Ronin

This isn't a instant love though Rook isn't sure of her feelings. I didn't understand fully why she was the way she was until I got to book 3.
But when she woke up...Rook came through for her man.

Gosh where else can I go with this review?
There is so many other characters
Spencer (biker, rich and sexy)
Ford (strange BDSM guy) **wow**
So totally want Ford's Story!!

And several others
Antoine and Elise
of course
Clare the bitch from hell.

This really isn't a romance ..it is but the love story is really 2nd to the growth of Rook. Her transformation from a broken girl into an amazing woman..is the story

But the romantic side of me has to talk about Ronin
He is every thing. He's beautiful yes but when he falls it's all the way. He sees the strength in Rook and he is so proud when she shines.



I honestly just got landed on my ass reading Panic. I am telling you shit came out that floored me. I am so freaking in awe right now of the twists and turns this story took that I am almost speechless.

Then the end happens and omg ..I can only say..you have to read it to believe it.

So glad I gave this series a chance. :)
