Lucky (Inked Menace MC #1) by Ryanne Hawk @RyanneHawk

I loved a lot about this combination shifter/MC read. There was suspense and magic and of course some sexy "mate attraction" moments of goodness.    I liked both the hero and heroine for the most part. I did have a few moments of what?    In smaller or let's say shorter books you tend to notice details a lot more because those details are closer together , the information in a more condensed manner, being that it's a shorter story. I'm usually one that can miss discrepancies but because there were some in this book that were very closely related to some of my hot button issues regarding my characters personality traits, I couldn't help but notice them big time.    First of all Lucky is remembering a sad time in his life.. And he has just gotten very physically close to the heroine. He has a thought about the fact "he hasn't touched a woman in 3 yrs" since that very sad time in his life. But a chapter or less later.. Its mentioned in his thoughts that he had a one night stand right after that tragedy. That hurt my heart because I was so happy to had found a celibate hero.. But I let this go because it was one time and maybe the author didn't realize she portrayed those two moments so differently. OK, then the heroine had a very abusive ex husband. But later in the book things came about that made her situation not make as much sense. There were some things that just didn't add up. Being that her secrets came out and it changed her personality traits HUGE..then she'd not have suffered what she did for as long as she did. Simple as that.  Rating this book on the Romance.. Or chemistry gives it a high 4 stars but those mixed parts I was confused about kept it at 3.5 for me. I would still read more from this author if.. She keeps her hero all about the heroine and that's another reason I felt quite a bit of enjoyment while reading this sexy story, for the hero was really over the top crazy for her.

Grace For Drowning by Maya Cross

 

This was a passionate, emotional story about two broken and lost people who stumble upon each other in a moment of sheer fate. While this was beautifully written and kept my emotions on the edge, I still felt so sad reading it especially towards the end. 

While I loved how Logan was determined to help Grace, I felt he did an about face and it shocked me. During the middle of this book their was a short period of a beautiful and amazing romance brewing. I felt swept away...then well ..Logan he just caved.

I am still reeling and for me my love stories have to have a Hero..and this one was Grace. NOT Logan. I am so proud of Grace for growing and healing...and it was all on her own in the end. Logan might have helped in the beginning but when it really counted he wasn't who he needed to be. So 3.5 Stars for the romance and  I give my 4 hearts go Grace ..and I hope that their HFN ending ..maybe somehow turns into a HEA ..one day. But Logan has a lot of manning up to do.

3.5 Stars for Romance 5 Hearts for debut novel and writing technique  I have a delicate balance in my love of biker romance. I love the gritty and dirty mouths of the bikers. I love the loyalty of the brotherhood. I adore the possessiveness of the "You are mine" an "property" comments. These are all things I just love about rough romances. But what I am is chicken when it comes to relationship roughness. Meaning, angst. How they treat each other, how specifically the men treat the women. Nope I'm a big old fat angst chicken. I am also a romantic sap.  I loved so much of this book then I thought OH MY GOSH she's gonna DO IT! She's gonna give me just what I want. These two had scenes that literally took my breath away...I loved it ..I was on pins and needles wanting MORE MORE MORE. Shadow and Dani were growing on me by the second.   But then I got knocked down on my ass and I wanted to cry.    Everything that I might have disliked or had problems with is going to be just what makes this book SELL and makes this book ROCK because I know I'm in the minority.    Most people love MC books because of the angst and the drama. I am the one that loves the ones where the guys are 100% loyal and so are the women. I can't stand it any other way. So just because parts of this story broke my heart doesn't mean it's not going to just blow some people away . I can almost guarantee it will.  I'm rating it on the romance story...just not my cup of tea..but on the writing and the ability to cause feelings of all passion, fear and anger..yea that is a solid 5. I've had the pleasure of talking to Ms. Forgy and she's the nicest and most down to earth lady I've talked to in a long time. I hope we work together a lot more in the future. I know I'll be seeing her name when this book starts hitting the kindles and ereaders. Written in a complex and passionate way this will be a fan of many hard care thrill seeking, angst filled, biker story junkies.  *Copy offered for honest review

3.5 Stars for story and 10 hearts for heat.   Beloved by Corinne Michaels While I loved the concept of this story. I found that the angst overwhelmed me. For every thing that Jackson did to show Catherine she was worth it, she kept wallowing in her past and it just frustrated me. Jackson did so much to show her how fun love could be and how passionate a real connection could be. But she had been hurt so bad by her father and her fiance that Jackson really didn't stand a chance. When she finally realizes how much he means to her ..that is when the whole thing takes another turn. Some things actually made me second guess my thoughts about Jackson and well if what I think happened in the past then well Catherine again isn't gonna be first choice she'll just be who is there now. I was hoping for a love story where she actually was someone's beloved. Not a roller coaster with a plunge into a river of nothing at the end.  I am not sure if I'll read the next installment because I am on angst overload. The writing was stellar and the love scenes were beyond hot.Which is why I am able to give it 3.5 stars but I just found my frustration at the character Catherine's inner dialogue drove me batty. Destry by Lola Stark

*Copy provided by author for honest review* 3.5  Sexy Stars I love a hot sexy cowboy and Destry was sex on a horse and a fine one at that.  This was a quick and sexy read where a cowboy and a city girl find out that you can't run away from your past without repercussions.    Lots of sexual tension gave way to explosive encounters. I wish I'd have seen more conversations between the couple to be able to see the romance blossom. They had a lot of mental dialogue but I'd have really loved to see them talk more about their pasts and likes and dislikes.    But what we did get was a quick erotic read with a side of romance. I'll have to stop at this book in the series though since it's going in a direction I do not read. All in all I am glad I got a little cowboy fix.

Possessed by You (Torn #1) by Jo-Anna Walker

This was simply a sexy read about two people who simply couldn't stay away from each other.   While there was loads of steam and sizzling chemistry, I didn't connect with the love story and I really tried to. The scenes were well written and scorching hot but I felt a lack of emotion and aside from lust.  Brett did have his moments where he seemed to start to open up. I really wanted more of these emotional interludes. The ending did make me smile and like Brett a little more   I really missed the love story and hope that maybe in the next installment there will be more plot. If you are looking for an Erotic read with a small dose of romance this is for you.   I am giving this erotic read 3.5 stars due to the amazing love scenes as this lady knows her way around writing erotica.
